Brad Miller And Andres Nocioni on Bulls-Kings Trade

Brad Miller and Andres Nocioni on Bulls-Kings Trade
by Jimmy Shapiro

Strange happenings these days in the NBA.  It used to be that you made a trade that was a win-win for both teams.  You need a point guard and we have an influx of them, you need a center and ours just needs a change of scenery.  We’d see trades that at least looked even on paper like Paul Westphal for Dennis Johnson or Charles Oakley for Bill Cartwright. Not anymore, typically for one of the teams it’s all about clearing up cap space for or avoiding the luxury tax.  On Wednesday, the Kings traded the Brad Miller and John Salmons (the two best players in the deal) to Chicago for Drew Gooden, Andres Nocioni and a few spare parts.Brad Miller joined Grant Napear and Mike Lamb of KHTK in Sacramento courtside right after getting word he was traded.  He even broke down in the middle of the interview. “I’m pretty happy.  It’s a good opportunity in terms they’re right on the borderline of the playoffs. Kind of the same situation Mike (Bibby) went into last year.  You go to a team like that where they’ve been kind of like ehh, whatever, a little bit of a change like that and get into the playoffs and get some excitement back.  I love Chicago as a city so that’s a bit of a bonus for me.”

Miller reflects on the good times in Sacramento:

“Definitely my first year here.  Probably the first home game, to see it packed crazy, that was my favorite year of my entire life playing basketball in terms of how good the fans where.  It’s gonna be tough (Crying)…My daughter was born here in Sacs, so there’s a lot people I’m going to miss and it’s just tough.” Listen to Brad Miller on KHTK

Andres Nocioni joined Mully and Hanley on WSCR in Chicago  to talk about being traded to Sacramento.  He wasn’t surprised:

“No, no because I read all the rumors about the trade.  I was prepared.” “I’m going to play with my same energy.  I try to play as hard as I can in Sacramento.  This is the NBA and I know how it goes.”

On the Bulls future:

“We had the #1 pick in Rose, he’s a great player, he’s going to be one of the best guards in the NBA.  I think they’re playing much better and for sure going to play in the playoffs.”
