Phil Jackson Checks In
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson made an appearance on KLAC Wednesday to talk about his first place Lakers, acquiring SG Adam Morrison from the Charlotte Bobcats, the time table of C Andrew Bynum’s return and what he expects from his team when they return from the All-Star break after this weekend.“Counting on his return, a time table, it’s just not on the horizon right now. He was walking without assistance Monday when we got back to practice after our 12 day road trip and was in really quite good spirits. He said he had minimal swelling, he’s doing range of motion therapy right now. He had some range. He said outside of the fact that they massaged that ligament, he has no pain, no discomfort and the swelling is minimum.”
When asked if he thought his team would be better this year come playoffs time even if Bynum wasn’t ready to return, Jackson said:
“I don’t know if we’re better. I think we’re definitely as good. I think Pau Gasol has gotten more settled in with what we do. I think the biggest key is we have Trevor Ariza back who really didn’t come back and complete his therapy last year in time to play in the playoffs. He played a little bit, but surprisingly.”
